• Did you know that Taramo is closely linked to the Lent period of the Orthodox Church in Greece? When Rose Monday marks the beginning of the time of deprivation, meat and fish dishes are forbidden. Only the eggs of the fish are allowed. From this, great dishes such as Taramo-Salata, a cold appetizer made from salted fish roe, can be conjured up. Of course, Taramo-Salata is an integral part of the Greek appetizer plate all year round, not only in Greece but throughout the eastern Mediterranean.
