Ester-C® is a patented formula that contains a buffered (non-acidic) form of vitamin C and is milder on the stomach than the usual, acidic form (ascorbic acid). Compared to ascorbic acid, Ester-C® is absorbed faster, leads to a higher vitamin C level in the blood, gives less excretion of oxalate in the urine, remains present and active in the body for longer and does not cause digestive complaints.
Ester-C® contains calcium ascorbate (ascorbic acid bound to calcium) and vitamin C metabolites, such as threonine acid. Vitamin C metabolites are metabolic products of vitamin C. They promote the absorption and availability of vitamin C in the body.
