• What is gemmotherapy? Gemmotherapy is the youngest branch of phytotherapy. It makes use of the buds, shoots, germs and root fibers or embryonic tissues of plants. These embryonic tissues contain all the properties (both biochemical and energetic) of the future complete plant (both of the fruits, flowers, leaves, stems, roots, etc...) and can be used to support and optimize our health. Gemmotherapy is a holistic approach. This means that it works on both the physical and energetic level as well as on the psychological and emotional level.
• The founder of gemmotherapy is the Belgian doctor Dr. Pol Henry. In the 1960s, he studied embryonic plant cells for their therapeutic properties, following the research of his colleague Dr. Niehans into the medicinal use of animal embryonic cells. This resulted in “phyto-embryotherapy”, of which he later published his first findings in the book “Phytembryothérapie”.
